1971-72: Teacher in junior high school

1971-73: Teacher afternoon classes for drop outs, adviser to the same group

1975-94: Associate Professor at the College of Early Childhood Education in Oslo (teacher training in early childhood education). Teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Head of the postgraduate course in special education from 1980-94

1979-81: Educational psychologist, Oslo.

1990-92: Head of research projects on educational counselling and supervision to preschool teachers for the Ministry of family and child affairs

1975-1996: Guest speaker, key note speaker, external examinator, short-time lecturer , adviser to the University of Oslo, Bergen, and various Teacher Training Colleges in Norway and Scandinavia

1984-92: Appointed member of the Norwegian National Commission to Unesco. Deputy director of the education sector. Norwegian offical representative at Unesco's General Assembly (three times).

- Global evaluator to the Norwegian Save the Children regarding evaluation of their global basic education program

2000: Co-organizer and presenter at seminar on basic education in Africa, arranged by the Norwegian Save the Children

- the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) on Evaluation Guidelines

- the Norwegian Rainforest foundation on evaluation of indigenous education among the Yanomami tribe in Amazonas, Brasil

- the Norwegian Refugee Council on evaluation of human rights' education project in Southern Caucasus

2002:

- Engaged as team leader by UNHCR to carry out an evaluation of the GTZ Basic Education programme for Afghan refugees' project in Pakistan (team members: S.B. Ekanayake and U. Bude).

- Engaged by KRUS to evaluate the education for prison and probation officers in Oslo (together with Reidar Pettersen)

- Presenter/facilitator at seminar for experts in the Norwegian Refugee Council's standby-force on assessment and evaluation

- Research study on vulnerable children in Chimoio, Mozambique

- Consultant to NRC regarding an evaluation of TEP in Burundi

2008: Consultant to

- D. Steenbuch foundation to carry out a feasibility study regarding support to teacher education in South Africa.

- Concern worldwide regarding assessment of education and living conditions in Cachingues, Angola, and training a team of Angolans to participate in the assessment.

2008/2009 Engaged by Rainforest Foundation Norway to write a book on indigenous education in the rainforest in Brazil.

2009 Engaged as a team member in the final evaluation of a project supporting youth with developmental disabilities in Tanzania (funded by Operation Day's Work). Responsible for the methodological and practical training of local assistants (together with Ellen Cathrine Kiøsterud, team-leader)

Lectures at the master degree study in family therapy, Diakonhjemmets Høgskole, Oslo

2010  Engaged by Norwegian Church Aid to participate in the final evaluation of the programme Combating Human Trafficking (in Brazil).
